Staring At Stars

Like the last few days, today was hot, hot, hot, but unlike the last few days, I was able to enjoy the heat and sunshine without being at work, and this became an excuse to get a little snap happy with the macro lens...

..And gorge myself upon the raspberries growing in the garden, resulting in several nettle stings.

We are literally inundated with blackcurrants, I have never seen so many before, so I'm on the serious lookout to make something that isn't blackcurrant coulis or jam!

This dress from Staring At Stars is the best summer dress I've found. I unearthed it in the Urban Outfitters sale for something like £25, sadly it's sold out but there are similar ones on Asos, like this and this. It's so light and comfy, doesn't cling and hides any possible food babies.

What I'm Wearing 23/03/2013

When I first started writing this blog, I wanted the general theme of it to be an "all rounder" and I feel that instead of being a circle, my blog is more of an acute triangle pointing directly towards a huge stack of recipes, so this post is me dipping my toe into the fashion post pond.

I wouldn't call myself a fashionable person, especially as I sit here writing this I am dressed in an unflattering teddy fleece onepiece and slippers, with my hair piled on top of my head. I know what you're thinking, snuggly, hey? In reality, that is how I dress the majority of the time, I go to my school's sixth form and my thinking is that it is a single sex school, there isn't anyone to impress, so usually I go in looking like a drowned rat.

Anyway, it's J's friend's very casual surprise party this evening and I thought I'd post what I was wearing... (Apologies for all the appearances that my loo makes!)

This playsuit was a bargin from H & M that I found lurking on their sale rails, it goes really well with all jackets, so I find myself wearing it reasonably often.

I edited this so much to try and disguise my no make up face... And failed miserably!

My denim jacket is just from Topshop, when I bought it I didnt realise that it was slightly cropped, but I try and balance it out by rolling up the sleeves so they are 3/4.

My silk scarf is one of the scarves that my mum has passed down to me as she doesn't wear them any more, I think they're really pretty and I've had tonnes of compliments on them.

But of course I couldn't go empty handed, so I rummaged around and made some rocky road.

At my school, whenever it is someone's birthday someone is sure to make C's rocky road. Now, this isn't your normal rocky road, it's infinatley better than any that I've ever tasted.
(Cue food porn.)

Yes, those are malteasers you can see.
Yes, those are marshmallows, m&ms and bits of toffee.
Yes, I have used honeycomb chocolate because there were no Crunchies avaliable.

I do hope none of these people are on a diet...

I Can't Feel My Toes

Summer is definitley my favourite season, the sun, the colours, the 7 week summer holiday, not to mention kicking the whole shebang off with my birthday.
This cold weather has really made me look forward to the summer holidays, and seeing as last year was the best year in my opinion, I thought I'd share some of it with you all.

At a party with one of my best friends.

Ladylike as ever, being mischevious and lead astray by the girl in the previous photo!

This is on a bike ride with my boyfriend, we found an enormous oak tree, and ever the elegant one, I clambered up.

My favourite thing to wear in summer are little summer dresses or skater skirts like this one from Johnnie B, and I'm on the lookout already.
Mum and I went to the ice-cream parlour in Harrods, and oh, it was amazing!

I went to the south of Italy with my mother and my sister, we were right by the sea so the food was absolutely delicious.

My beautiful mother looking pretty pleased with herself

Oh how I yearn to be this tanned again!
My leavers ball with my boyfriend (I didn't leave)

Boyfriend's 18th, different occasion, same dress
A slightly random post, but I'm feeling a bit wistful at the moment, I do wish this warm weather would hurry up, I'm fed up of living in thick clothes!

February Favourites

1st March is rolling around, I hope you're going to make some Welsh Cakes, I'm not even Welsh and I'm looking forward to them.
This month has gone hellishly quickly and I'm sorry about the lack of blog posts this past week but I've been doing my mock A levels oh, the unbounded joy that they bring.
I haven't got a great deal of favourites this month so I thought I'd throw in a few of my phone photos of what I've been up to.

My amazing boyfriend brought me back a chocolate ski from Austria

I roasted a chicken (apologies poor blackberry quality)
Eating breakfast like a king: porridge made with coconut milk with honey and chopped banana

My boyfriend has a real knack at knowing exactly what I like, especially when it comes to jewellery, which, from what I've heard is pretty rare.
He surprised me on Valentine's day with these beauties from Helen Odor and I've worn them nearly every day since.

I recently rediscovered this little Estee Lauder blush and bronzer quad, my favourites are the bottom left, Pink Kiss, because it's so fun and the bronzer, Bronze Goddess, which doesn't look like much but is nearly beating Benefit's Hoola for the make up bag spot.

Top: Nude Rose 11, Rosewood 13 Bottom: Pink Kiss 02, Bronze Goddess 01

I popped into Primark (one of the extensive range of shops that Ipswich has to offer... Not!) and I saw this blouse

The pattern isn't unlike the Willow pattern we have on our plates and bowls etc, which I personally think is really pretty and at £12 I couldn't find a reason not to buy it.
Now, in the shop this had rhinestones on the collar, I don't like rhinestones so I pulled them off, if you're doing the same, be careful, but it should be fine.

Finally, this MUA palette has been lying unopened in my make up drawer and I've really liked it. It's called the "Undressed" palette and it's a bit of a no brainer that it's a wanna be Naked palette!

The colours are great but you need a primer to make them last all day.

My favourites are 2nd on the top row, for all over eyelid, 3rd on the top row for my brows and 4th on the bottom row for my crease and eyeliner.
