Street Feast

On Friday evening Freddie and I headed to Dalston Junction for Street Feast.

An evening, which is free if you get there before 7, that presents you with some of the best street food vendors from around London, all set up in a warehouse in Dalston Yard.

First, we headed to SmokeStak

Who offered us ribs and pulled pork, wrapped up in sheets of greaseproof paper,

But Freddie went for their brisket burger with pickled chillies instead.

USDA brisket in a toasted bun, which was so rich it almost tasted marmite-y.

We got our cocktail fix with a mojito for him and a gin concoction for me,

Then we carried on our feast,
Next was my choice. Yum Bun.

And aptly named too! Especially as they're ranked in the Guardian's top 10 Street food and the World's Best Street food by the Sunday Times!
You may already know that I love steamed buns, and these were no exception.

I went for one with pork belly with hoisin and one with sweet chilli prawns and gochujang mayo.
The former was the best, only due to the fact that I think pork belly and hoisin are an unbeatable combo.

Next to Yum Bun was Bill Or Beak,

We'd been eyeing up their hoisin fries whilst we were next door, and just look why:

Who knew hoisin could go on fries?
Not me, but it was pretty good and they were sprinkled with coriander, crispy pieces of duck and adorned with spicy pickled cucumber.

We also couldn't resist ordering the 8 hour braised duck and pork burger, with tempura shallots and fresh coriander, spring onion and mint salad.

The only downside was it wasn't big enough.

By this time we were getting full, there weren't many pudding options, but this caught our eye:

That's not entirely true, the cool car did, but the alcoholic ice lollies sign also did.

We went for Strawberry mojito and Watermelon margarita, but how weird/cool does the Desperado lolly sound?!

There a handful of similar events such as Dinerama and Model Market, and we plan to complete them all.

But next up is Taste of London, for last years post go here.

Street Feast at Dalston Yard is every Friday and Saturday evening until the 26th September, 5-12am.
