Jumeirah Hotel & Spa Day 3

On our last full day, we decided to eat ourselves into oblivion.

Starting with the most important meal of the day with a simple but delicious breakfast, all it needed was some marmite...

Jumeriah put on a feast at breakfast every morning in their Cap Roig restaurant, with fruit, pastries and meats in abundance.

Lunch in the Clouds

As I'm writing this, it seems like an entire lifetime ago that me and Millie, and our mothers flew up to the 40th floor of the Heron Tower in a Charlie and The Chocolate Factory-esque all glass lift, but our meal was just too good not to share.

Our mothers have been such close friends for years, Millie and I went to school together every day too, so it was only natural we would become great friends.
We went to London to see the wedding dress exhibit at the V&A where we chose our future dresses- look out Kate Moss, there are two copycats hot on your tail.

Club Burrito

Seeing as this is my first post in two months, it's obvious that this blogging-whilst-at-uni thing is working out fantastically, but as an apology I have a little gem to blog about.

I first went to Club Burrito a couple of weekends ago with some friends, I had seen it before, hard to miss seeing as it's canary yellow exterior stands out so brightly against the other shops, but hadn't got round to going in, but ever since the boys took me in I've been back at least four times.

You basically choose whether you'd like a burrito, nachos, a salad or a tacos, then your meat, chicken, pork or beef and the girls behind the counter make your dreamy mexican cravings turn into reality.

But one of the coolest things about Club Burrito is the bar, after your order has been made up you go up to the bar to pay, and the wall behind the till is lined up with cool and colourful mexican bottles, mainly made up of different types of tequila.

I had been banging on to Faye about the place ever since I had first gone and we decided we would go to cure our woolly hungover heads with the bright interior and comfort food.

I think it's safe to say that Club Burrito has gained yet another fan, because a couple of days later, when the rest of our housemates moved out Faye and I were at a loss of what to do with ourselves.
She looked at me, and I looked at her, one of us said "Club Burrito?"
5 mins later we were on our way.

To try and avoid a very likely food coma, we went to the park with a football and a frisbee.

Not many games were played because the fact that we were so full made rapid movements challenging, so we made do with strolling around in the sunshine and people watching.

The weather has been so hot and lovely recently, I've got some exciting things planned this summer so hopefully long may it continue!

Partridges

Last week Mum and I had to go into London to exchange a birthday present that was too big for my wrist, afterwards, we found ourselves on Sloane Square and after having spent a while in Tiffany & Co, waiting for me to stop ooh-ing and ahh-ing at everything and sort myself out, Mum was ravenous, and I'm just always up for a meal, so we popped into Partridges for some lunch.

We walked past isles of tasty looking groceries to the restaurant at the back of the shop, resisting until after lunch.
Mum ordered aubergine and feta quiche (oh so jealous of her). Sadly I couldn't try any of hers, but she said it was delicious, and the pastry was excellent.

I went for the Partridges Special Salad, smoked salmon, prawns, roasted peppers and chicory.

The prawns and roasted peppers were amazing, but with the chicory it didn't work, but when I tried putting the salmon and the chicory together it all slotted into place and was delicious!

One thing I will say is that the staff in the restaurant were wonderful, our waiter was so clued up about the ingredients and attentive and our food came out pretty speedily after ordering.

After finishing we thought we'd have a wander around the rest of the shop as the patisserie counter was just across the restaurant and I'd been eyeing up the whole meal time, look at that Rocky Road!

They had the most amazing deli, enormous cheeses, gargantuan salamis, but the ready meals were the best bit in the whole counter, ready meal, Chelsea style.

They had tonnes of foreign food too, I was in heaven in the US section and the lady restocking the shelves was really lovely!

Then things got a little bad when I got to the nuts..

Things got nuts when I got to the nuts, you could even say, I got a bit carried away being a happy little shutter-bug when a very unhappy lady marched up to me and asked if I had had the manager's permission to take photos, which I hadn't because I didn't realise you had to have permission to take photos to show people how good a place was, I tried to explain to her that it was for my blog and did she want to see them?
No she definitely did not, I was so surprised at the contrast between the staff in the restaurant (who had seen me snapping away at my salad) and this lady and how spoke to me, that it really tarnished the day and put a dampener on the amazing review I wanted to give, sorry guys!

Jimmy's Farm

Last night my sixth form ball was held at Jimmy's Farm. Up until reading this post by Emily, I had no idea how well known Jimmy Doherty's farm was.

For those of you that don't know, Jimmy is a Suffolk based farmer who has a television show on channel 4, "Jimmy's Farm".

Our ball was held in their beautiful farm restaurant, a converted barn with beautiful old beams and the large quantity of wood used made it look lovely and rustic



There were fairy lights everywhere, which were perfect with the theme.

There was a photobooth which was made use of by both girls and teachers alike, I can't wait to see the photos.
The farm has their own photographer, which my school regularly uses, called Nick Ilott and we all had fun posing for photos, especially around the cow, yes, that it me milking it.

 

Our starter consisted of canapés, and if there's anything I love it's canapés.
Food that you can pop straight in? Yes please!

We had two of my favourites, Yorkshire pudding topped with roast beef and horseradish and smoked salmon blinis.
The blini waitress lurked around me a lot, maybe I made it too obvious that I was a big fan.

As we sat down we noticed a little present by each of our name cards,

Which contained a little bracelet from the fabulous local jewellery shop, Never Go Naked, whose jewellery, by the way, is so cute and really inexpensive!

Then it was time to eat, I opted for the non vegetarian, the shredded pork with semi roasted potatoes, greens, gravy and a little apple sauce, which was really tasty, and as expected the pork was delicious, from Jimmy's home grown piggies.

My friend Charlotte had the vegetarian option which was equally as delicious, gnocci in a creamy sauce but when I tasted it I soon realised she wouldn't need that whole bowlful, the gnocci was so filling that half the bowl would fill you right up!

Now, pudding.

Pudding was chocolate fondant with ice cream... And I guzzled it down before taking a photo. Oops.

Initially, when I saw the menu I didn't think the pudding would be that great. I think a chocolate fondant is difficult to get right as they can be too dense or too rich. This was neither, the pudding without the ice cream was absolutely perfect and hands down the best chocolate fondant I've had.

Dancing ensued, and I think everyone's pretty glad nobody took photos of that!

How cool is A's dress? I'd look like a giant Tuna but it works so well on her!

It was a wonderful evening and the social prefects did a fantastic job!

Graze

I have been avoiding revision at all costs and during my procrastination I spied an advert  that Graze were offering a free box, and the second half price, these boxes come through your post box on a fortnightly, weekly or even twice a week, depending on your grazing. They contain  treats chosen at random from the ones you like (you can choose which ones you don't on their site) but seeing as this was my first I was going in blind.

They come in a letterbox friendly size and there was great excitement once my parcel was popped in the post box for me to come home to after a day long art exam(one of three!)

My tasty box included a "herby bread basket", "sweet popcorn", "very nori-sh" and "shangri-la", everything is under 200 calories and the only thing knew I'd like was the sweet popcorn so I couldn't wait to try them.

Apparently this has garlic croutons, mini basil breadsticks and oregano rice crackers.

 

On the back of this it says you only need to pop (sorry, couldn't help it) in the microwave for 40 seconds... Revision food in 40 seconds?! Yes please!

 

I was really excited about these, I love any kind of oriental crackers, these are Japanese seaweed rice crackers.

 

This one was a complete surprise, it could be either hit or miss, I'm saving it to take into my exam tomorrow, it has lingonberries, pineapple, slice of almond and pumpkin seeds... Iiiinteresting..
